Obituary for Allen Ray Calvery

Allen Ray Calvery (81) of Midlothian, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 14th, 2023.

Allen also known as Dad, Papaw, Big Al or Uncle Butch was born to Virginia Harris Collins in Abilene, Texas on September 5th, 1942. He grew up in Waco and Dallas, Texas a loving brother and an avid outdoorsman.

On November 10th, 1972 he married the love of his life Linda Calvery, whom he stayed lovingly devoted to for 51 years. Together they raised seven children.

Allen is survived by his wife Linda Calvery and his children Jana Holmes and husband Brent, Jeff Calvery and his wife Andrea, Chris Calvery and his wife Darla, Gina Carter, Brian Calvery, Brandi Just and her husband Jeff, and Brandon Calvery and his wife Meghan. And his 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Brenda Parker Carter and her husband Eddy Carter and his nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother Virginia Harris Collins and his step-father Morton Lane Parker.

Allen was always known for being a dedicated father and grandfather and a strong man of God. Beyond his incredible love for his family, Allen was a hard worker. He was passionate about hunting and always loved spending time with his sons and grandsons sitting in a deer stand. He was well known for being the best church league softball coach pitcher. He loved taking care of his chickens. He was a father figure to all who knew him. Allen Calvery made a profoundly positive impact on his family, his church, and his community. He will be greatly missed!
