Benjamin Ray Snyder, 78, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Dementia on January 28, 2022.
Ben, or as he was known to the neighborhood grandkids and all of his daughter's friends, "Benie", was born on April 7, 1943 to Eugene and Jessie Snyder in Moberly, Missouri. He was the youngest of 5 kids and grew up in several small towns in Missouri and Iowa. He graduated in 1961 from Davis County Community High School in Bloomfield, Iowa then served in the Air Force from 1961-1965.
After his time in the Air Force, Ben moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he was set up on a blind date with Marie (Hackmann) Snyder. They were happily married for 43 years until she passed away in 2009. Ben worked for IBM for 30 years where he and Marie moved from St. Louis, MO to Wheaton, IL to Terre Haute, IN to Kansas City, MO before finally ending up in Keller, TX where he retired. They enjoyed travelling in their RV, visiting family and occasionally crashing a family member's wedding if it was in an interesting location!
Anyone that met Ben found out quickly that never met a stranger, was very technical minded and had a quick sense of humor. He loved sitting around "chatting" and if there was a baked good and a cup of coffee involved, even better! He also loved his neighborhood "grandkids" in Keller, TX , talked about their adventures and told everyone how proud he was of all of them.
Ben is survived by his daughter Terri Clark, his brother James Snyder and his sisters Rowena Mills and Ramona Geery. Proceeding him in death was his wife Marie Snyder and his brother Thomas Snyder.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association or to his daughter's, Terri Clark's, Walk to End Alzheimer's page in memory of her dad, Ben Snyder.
