Obituary for Betty S. Hill
Midlothian, Texas – Betty Shaffer Hill, 96, resident of Midlothian, passed away at home on Friday July 22, 2022 after an illness.
She was preceded in death by Dr. Ross Hill, her husband of 67 years, and her son Dr. Stephen Hill.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Saralyn and Gary Shone, daughter-in-law Cyndi Sweeney Hill, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends.
Betty was born July 29, 1925 and raised in Nebraska, where she earned her R.N. degree and met her husband Dr. Ross Hill.
She balanced life as the wife of an Army dentist, professional life as a nurse and her lifelong interests in needlework, reading, crosswords and music. Her family was always foremost in her mind and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church in Augusta, GA.
The family expresses their thanks to the staff at Bristol Hospice, Chatty Cathy Caring for your Senior, and Dr. Joshua Martak at Baylor Midlothian for the loving care given to Betty.
A private memorial will be held followed by inurnment at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke, VA.
