In Memory of Carol Jean Nelson
Carol Jean (Lemmon) Nelson passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2022 in Midlothian, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. She was 91 years old.
Jean was born, in the home she grew up in, January 3, 1931, in Weston, Idaho to parents Richard and Vera Lemmon. She spent her early years in Weston working on her family’s small farm, riding her horse Smokie and enjoying her family of 10 brothers and sisters. She graduated from West Side High School then later moved to San Francisco for work where she met the love of her life and eternal companion, Thomas Lane Nelson, at a USO dance. They were married Dec 7, 1955 in Weston, ID and later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They were married 66 years. They spent time in numerous cities due to Tom’s Navy career and later with various companies eventually settling down in Midlothian.
Jean’s life was the very definition of love and kindness. Jean was always a dedicated and faithful member of the LDS church serving in numerous capacities to include as missionaries first at the Dallas Temple and then in Peoria, Illinois. They loved to travel as a couple, especially to visit family and friends and loved being visited. Jean was always the perfect mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She loved to cook and care for her family. Family and friends knew her as an extremely charitable and caring person who treated everyone with unwavering kindness. She was truly loved by all who knew her.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, son Lane and daughter Janet, siblings Tom, Margaret, Joann, Ray, Joyce, David, Barbara, and Hank, and grandson Stephen.
Jean is survived by her husband Tom, children Jean E Gray, husband Craig of Midlothian, Dick, wife Jennifer of Clayton, Wa, Catherine Kohl, Husband Brian of Layton, Ut, Brett, wife Shannon of Brisbane, Australia and Aaron, fiancé Kim of Midlothian. She was the loving matriarch of 54 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and countless cherished friends gained throughout her long life.
No one has ever been more loved, nor loved more than Jean. Even though she will be sorely missed, we know we will see her again. She will never be forgotten.
