Obituary for Carolyn Sue Wells (Davis)

Carolyn Davis Wells went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 14, 2022. She passed away peacefully after a long battle with breast/bone cancer. She was 66 years old.

Carolyn was born in San Angelo, Texas on December 15, 1955 to Monte and Jane Davis. She and her two sisters, Donna and Rita Nell, grew up in San Angelo and attended San Angelo Central High School. After her graduation in 1973, Carolyn attended Angelo State University and graduated from West Texas State University in 1978 with a BA in Social Studies Education and a minor in German Education. She was a member of Alpha Chi, National Honor Society and The Texas Association of Social Studies Teachers.

After her college graduation, Carolyn went to work for Bag ‘N Baggage, Inc. in Corpus Christi. She transferred to the Houston area with BNB and was promoted to Vice President of the Southern Region. She was the regional V.P. for the Houston area BNB stores. While on a business trip to DFW, she got together with a former high school band classmate from San Angelo named Rusty Wells. Rusty and his son, Andrew, were living in Grapevine at the time and invited Carolyn over for dinner. The rest, as they say, was history. Carolyn and Rusty started dating and got married on April 11, 1987 on a Saturday at 2:00 in the First Presbyterian Church of San Angelo.

Carolyn started her public school teaching career in August of 1987 as a Computer Lab Aide at High Pointe Elementary in Cedar Hill, Texas. She continued her paraprofessional journey as a school secretary at West Intermediate also in Cedar Hill. In 2003, Carolyn started teaching in the classroom and taught a variety of subjects. Those included: Reading/Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, and American History. She taught at Joe Wilson Intermediate and Permenter Middle School in Cedar Hill ISD.

Carolyn retired from classroom teaching in 2014 and spent her days with gardening, volunteering for the Cedar Hill Food Bank, and being with her family. She was, and still is, an inspiration to everyone that knows her. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 2000’s and fought brilliantly. She lived over a decade past the medical predictions. She was a very strong and tough lady.

Her proudest accomplishment was helping to raise three awesome children. Her sons, J.D. and Marty and step son, Andrew, are examples of what well rounded and caring adults should be. She said many times that they were her crowning achievement.

Carolyn was active in the Cedar Hill United Methodist Church and later became a leader in the Serendipity Sunday Class at Duncanville UMC. She was always a teacher/leader and creatively sharing her vast knowledge.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Donna. She is survived by her husband Rusty, son J.D and his wife Camille and their 2 children Emery and Ian, Marty, step son Andrew, sister Rita Nell Diffie and her husband David, her brother in-law David Samuelson and his wife Candace, and several nieces and nephews.

She was and IS very much loved by her family and will be greatly missed. We will hold her in our hearts forever.
