Obituary for Charles Mike Dooley

Charles Mike Dooley, 91, passed away on August 5, 2022 at Brookdale Senior Living in Waxahachie Texas after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia.

Charles was known to his friends and co-workers as Mike and to his family as “Mickey”. He was born on February 6, 1931 to Mike B. Dooley and Lois Welch Dooley in San Angelo Texas. He was the oldest of six children. While in High School, Mike began working for Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in San Angelo as Filling Machine Operator, but his calling was to the United States Air Force. On February 10, 1948, four days after his 17th birthday, Mike joined the USAF as Radio Maintenance Mechanic.

He retired as Lieutenant Colonel marking 40 years of faithful service to his country.

He also served over 20 years with the Dallas Police Department as a member of the Tactical Squad and K-9 Division After he retired from the USAF and The Dallas Police Department, he continued to serve as Dallas County Deputy Sherriff until his retirement in December 2012.

Mike was never a person to be idle with his time and he never met a stranger. He loved spending time with his family and friends and sharing the stories of his military and police adventures. His loved going to the gun range, working on his R.V and maintaining his property in Venus.

Mike is preceded in death by Doris Dooley, Linda Dooley, Mary Van Huss and Katie Dooley.

Mike is survived by his three sons, Michael Dooley and wife Mary, Robert Dooley and wife Sandra, Thomas Dooley and wife Tammie. Four sisters, Barbara Pollard and husband Bill, Margaret Windham, Betty Monroe and Linda Mealer. Two grandsons, four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
