After a life dedicated in service to GOD, family and country, David Louis Swiedom, 87, passed away on October 31, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19. He was born in Abilene, Texas to K. L. Swiedom and Rose Williams Swiedom in 1933. He was a graduate of Abilene High School where he was a member of the band. He graduated from Texas A & M with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and completed the R.O.T.C. program. He became a commissioned officer in the United States Army, in the Signal Corp, as a Second Lieutenant. After separating from the Army, David Louis spent almost 30 years continuous work for LTV/Vought/Lockheed Martin in management as an Aero Dynamics Engineer in both Michigan and Texas, about a year at Ford Motor Company in Michigan. Upon retiring in Texas, he became a substitute teacher for several school systems in surrounding cities and loved it. Dave was a man of faith throughout his life. He gave credit to GOD for his successes. He was and acolyte and usher in the Episcopal church of the Heavenly Rest in his formative years. In the Presbyterian church as an adult, he was and Elder, a Youth Sponsor, helped build churches, and a coach for church sports. He was also a member of The First United Methodist Church of Midlothian for many years. He also coordinated other activities too numerous to list. He was a secret philanthropist which many people did not realize. David had many, hobbies which he and his wife shared like bowling, bridge, motorcycling, raising show birds, rock hounding, camping, vegetable gardening, performing in musicals at the Chautauqua in Waxahachie, Texas; and as singers with the Silver Serenaders. In short, they travelled the world together. David Louis took on any challenge he saw and conquered it. Any person who knew him knew that about him. He had a gift of taming wild animals for minutes and would then release them. Some in his family have seen it and marvelled.

David Louis Swiedom is survived by his children Carol Elaine Swiedom Stephens, Jana Lynn Greer O’Donnel, and Jeffery Allen Greer; sisters Rose Marie Sargent, and Victoria Elizabeth Swiedom Sardo; eighty grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joy Pearl Fagin-Swiedom.
