Obituary for David Bradley Zell

David was born September 14, 1971 in Dallas, TX. He was called to his Heavenly Home on March 20th, 2022.

David was a dedicated father to Cody Zell and Camryn Zell of Midlothian, TX, a loving and supportive husband to his dear wife of nearly 21 years, DeAnna Zell, and a devoted uncle and mentor to Zachary Zell of Baird, TX. He was the only brother and best friend to his sister, Sarah Wise of Abilene, TX. Additionally, David was a loyal friend to countless people, so many that it would be impossible to include them all here.

He was a devoted Christian whose light shined brightly through his burly, somewhat intimidating exterior. Despite this bristly demeanor, all who truly knew him would describe him as a teddy bear. He would have gladly given anything he had to help another and had an ability to make a stranger a friend within minutes.

After attending, playing football, participating in track and graduating as a proud Lobo of Cisco High School, David continued his education at Cisco Jr. College and Texas Tech University where he was an active member of the Theta Chi fraternity.

He proudly served his country in the US Army. This experience eventually led him to work in the Information Technology field. He was proud to begin this career in DeSoto ISD where he worked for over 14 years, followed by a short time in Duncanville ISD. He enjoyed these years and the friends he made working in public schools, but David was excited for the opportunity to transition to the Dell Technologies company. This led him to become a cybersecurity deployment engineer. This allowed him to carry his gift of building relationships into working with his customers across the United States.

In his spare time, David tinkered with numerous hobbies, and most recently discovered his talent of handcrafting beautiful leatherworks. For years, he was eager to plan the annual “Man Trip” to Matagorda, Texas, which was his absolute happy place and where he requested he return when he transitions from this earthly world. Of this, he was quite adamant. The ocean was where he most felt God’s presence. There is no doubt; David has several reels out in his heavenly ocean now, because that was his Heaven. He was quite lucky to have enjoyed many of these trips with the guys, appreciating the reprieve of the everyday demands of life, and soaking in that peace.

David was undeniably head over heels in love with DeAnna, and he showed her through his words and deeds. His pride for his wonderful children beamed in his eyes as he would speak of their accomplishments and progresses. It is an understatement to say David was blessed beyond belief and that he knew what he’d been given in this life. He was living a life he truly loved and he extended the love in his heart to so many and he loved people just as they were. David was authentic. He did not put on a front. He was extraordinary.

David’s Mother and Father, Steven Don and Carol Elaine Zell, preceded him in leaving this Earth behind while he is survived by his wife and children and his sister, Sarah Elaine Wise, and nephew Zachary Tyler Zell who have undoubtedly all been touched by the gift of his love and will miss and remember him always.
