Dorothy Eileen Phillips, age 86, died peacefully in the care of Community hospice of Burleson on October 15, 2020 with her daughter by her side. She left this world on her terms and for that we are thankful knowing she is at peace with her Lord and Savior. Dorothy was born on October 11, 1934 to Charles and Pearl Baskett. She was one of six children. Dorothy was a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas. She went on to earn a Bachelors Degree at Howard Payne University. Dorothy lived in Dallas most of her young life where she met and married Wayland Matthew Phillips - the love of her life. She was blessed with a daughter, LeeAnn Marie in 1965. She worked at the Annuity Board in Dallas when she began her career as an accountant/ secretary / Office manager. Dorothy, Wayland and LeeAnn moved to Midlothian in 1974. It was at that time she began working as the First Baptist Church secretary until she retired April 1, 1998. Dorothy was devoted to her family, her church and friends. She always made a point to be there for the ones she loved. Dorothy was a wonderful piano player and loved singing in the church choir. Her church was her home. If the church doors were open - Dorothy was there. She lived as a devoted Christian. She taught the senior Adult Sunday school until just a few years ago when she decided she needed a change. She then started teaching Sunday school to 3 year olds. She loved teaching children. She said it kept her feeling young and alive. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn Patrick and son in law, Rick Patrick of Benbrook. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Mann, of Cedar Hill. Many nieces, nephews and dear friends whom she loved so very much. Her friends and family will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Wayland Phillips; her parents, Charles and Pearl Baskett; brother, Charles Baskett Jr.; sisters, Mary Baskett, Irma Comfort and Marie Harris.
