Obituary for Edna M St Jacques (Finnell)

Edna Margaret Finnell St. Jacques passed peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by family.
Edna was born and raised in Massachusetts. She married Raymond St. Jacques and they were married for 50 years prior to his passing in 2006. Together, they had “the 5 K’s” – Karen Cox (Chris), Kevin St. Jacques (Patty), Kyle St. Jacques (Rita), Kathleen Ponder (Louis) and Kelly Kavanaugh.
Edna worked as an executive secretary most of her adult life and later retired from the City of Midlothian.
She was known best for her singing. She had the voice of an angel and often sang for weddings and funerals as well as leading the music in the church choir. Her favorite song to sing was the Ave Maria and this was a popular request by many.
She loved to volunteer her time and talents at the church and to help those less fortunate. She donated money to several Catholic charities, knitted hats and blankets for babies overseas, sponsored children from other countries and she was on the altar society and rosary groups at church as well.
Her passion for many years was her grandchildren –Michael Cox, Alison Cox, Aimee, Joseph, and Matthew St. Jacques, Rachel Powers, Adam Zachow, Laura Meine, Rhea Northcutt and Cody Kavanaugh.
Most recently, she enjoyed several fabulous years as a great Grandma to Cody Kavanaugh, Kira Buechler, Landon and Ava Powers, Eleanor and Alexandra Northcutt.
She is also survived by her brother Frank Finnell of South Carolina and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph & Louise Finnell and her brothers Joseph and Jack Finnell as well as her beloved sisters-in-law Theresa St. Jacques and Theresa Finnell.
She lived a long and blessed life and touched many lives. She was a great example of a strong Christian woman.
