Obituary for Elizabeth Jean Shipley (McCoy)

We are sad to announce the passing of Elizabeth Jean Shipley of Rockwall Texas. Jean died peacefully in Dallas, Texas at the age of 91 on April 5th, 2023. She was born May 7th, 1931 in Howe Texas.

Jean is survived by her Daughter in law, Beth Campbell, Step Daughters Vickie Gardiner and husband, Gary and Shannon Barton, her grandchildren, Jeannie Campbell, Chris Campbell, Nicole Wallish and husband Jeremy, Natalie Nolen and husband Jeremy and her great grandchildren, Kidd & Cru Campbell, Preston & Aiden Ivey and Alice Nolen , and many other family members, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph & Rebecca McCoy, husband, Roy Shipley, son, Mike Campbell, 1 sister, LaVerne McCoy Eastlake, and 4 brothers Grady, Bill, John and Jack McCoy.

Jean was a 50 year member of The Order Of the Eastern Star, and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Midlothian. She went to school in Howe and Gainesville, Texas and worked for Recognition Equipment until her retirement. Jean was a volunteer at Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for many years. She had a love for Dr Pepper, she would tell people when meeting them for the first time that she has been drinking Dr Pepper since she was 3 years old, and she loved coaching the Texas Rangers when they played. She also loved her Monday card games at the church with the ladies and she loved playing Bunko on Tuesday nights.

Jean was a very sweet soul and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Services will be at 11:00 AM, on Friday, April 14th at the First United Methodist Church of Midlothian, viewing and visitation will be at 10:30 AM before the service begins. A private burial will be at the Edgewood Cemetery in Lancaster, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in her name.
