For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Chad Kielmeyer. I met Emilio about 16 years ago when I started dating his daughter Julie. Little did I know at the time, that I would fall in love, marry Julie and gain another father. Emilio quickly welcomed me into the family and we first bonded over sports, even though I am 49ers fan and obviously he was a lifelong cowboy’s fan.
Emilio was always happy. I think because he enjoyed the little things in life that we so often take for granted, such as keeping a well manicured lawn, a clean car and most importantly a cold beer, never draft and only in a bottle. It is this lesson of enjoying the everyday moments in life that Emilio taught me and I will carry on.
There are many things I will miss sharing with Emilio, whether it was sneaking a shot of good tequila at the holidays, watching him play with my kids, or hearing him sing. But most of all, I will miss the random texts and calls I would get at different times of day “Chad do you know what channel the game is on”. It would usually be a couple days before the game was even scheduled, but I know he liked to be ready. And as I would look up the information and pass it on, I would smile because I knew he just wanted to say “Hi”.
I know many of you also shared your own moments with Emilio. He was the type of guy that could chit chat with anyone because he was genuine and that is a quality that lets you know that you are in the presence of someone truly remarkable.
Chris and the family would like to thank everyone that came and to everyone watching via the webcast for coming together to celebrate Emilio’s life. Emilio, thank you for being the kind man you were and enjoying life with all us. We will always love you!
