Obituary for Harvey Joe Wadsworth

Harvey Joe Wadsworth went to be with his Lord on November 5, 2020. He was born on September 17, 1933 to Loyd M. Wadsworth and Audrey Armstrong Wadsworth. He was a lifelong resident of Midlothian, Texas. In school, he excelled in football, baseball and basketball, and was the handsome F.H.A. Hero in 1951, graduating from Midlothian High School that year. In the latter part of 1953 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Harvey Joe married the love of his life, Wanda Jodell Hayes, on January 27, 1954. Shortly after the wedding, he shipped out to Korea in April of 1954, where he spent 18 months away from his bride, serving our country. They were blessed with three sons; Joey, Wes, and Todd. Harvey Joe was one of the first individuals in Midlothian who was instrumental in building Jaycee Park. In the early years, he worked for Vought Aeronautics and later had a lengthy career at Proctor and Gamble. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Midlothian. After retiring in 1992, he enjoyed golfing with friends and family at Waxahachie Country Club. He and Jodell loved to travel all over the country, including Alaska and Hawaii. Their absolute favorite place on earth was Lake City, Colorado and a special cabin there, high up in the mountains. Family was everything to him, from daughters-in-law to another son like his very own. His three grandchildren were his pride and joy. It was love at first sight when Paw-Paw was introduced to his great-granddaughter! He was a wonderful father and Paw-Paw; such an amazing role model to all. He is survived by his children, Joey Wadsworth and wife Sharon, Wes Wadsworth and wife Belinda, and Todd Wadsworth and partner David Brogna, grandchildren, Kurt Wadsworth, Brian Wadsworth and wife Jamie, and Sara Allen and husband Tucker, great-granddaughter Hadley Wadsworth, and sister, Peggy Carbajal. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made to Food4Kids, a mission outreach of First United Methodist Church in Midlothian for local children. Due to COVID precautions, the family will not be present during the Visitation/Viewing, which is on Monday, November 9, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, however, those that want to pay their respects may sign the book; casket will be open. A Graveside Service for family and friends will be Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Mt. Peak Cemetery.
