Obituary for James Howard Sanders Sr.

Jim Sanders, lovingly known as Jimmy, daddy, and grandpa, was born on September 24, 1942 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Upon graduation from North Little Rock High School, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1967. He married the love of his life, Becky, on October 1, 1966 and were happily married for 56 years.
Following Jimmy’s career at both the Arkansas Highway Department and the Texas Department of Transportation, he later worked as an engineer on the Alaskan Pipeline, and would eventually come to retire after 22 dedicated years with the Dallas County Tax Office.

His greatest hobby was collecting license plates from all over the world and had been an avid member of the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association. Jim and Becky have been members of Oak Crest Baptist Church since 2010. While Jimmy loved to pester and tease Becky, those around them knew that their love was always pure and true.
Jimmy is survived by his wife Becky, who is not only his spouse but his best friend and eternal love. He is also survived by oldest son, Jim Jr., his daughter in law, Charity, granddaughters Kaitlyn and Karissa and youngest son, David, his daughter in law, Ellen, and grandchildren Kylee, David Jr., Evangelina, Penny, and Elexia. He also is survived by his sister, Janice Sanders, his brother Ed Sanders and wife Jane, and several nieces, nephews, 3 sisters-in-laws, and 3 brothers-in-laws whom Jimmy considered to be his “…other brothers,”.
Jimmy brightened every room he ever walked into and made people smile without even trying. His love, humor, kindness, and devotion to his family will be forever missed.

A service celebrating James' life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am at Oak Crest Baptist Church in Midlothian.
