Janet “Jan” Lucille Shurtleff Honsicker was born on March 30, 1940 at the Naval Base in Pensicola, Florida to Edmond J Shurtleff & Zora Poulson Shurtleff. She spent her youth traveling the country with her Naval family between California and New York. She attended high school in Yokahoma, Japan, but finished her Senior year in Castro Valley, California where she met her lifelong love, Jim Honsicker. Jim says, “She was the most beautiful girl I’d ever seen”. They started out in Fremont, California where they immediately started their family of 2 daughters. They moved to Lancaster, Texas in 1973 and never looked back. As the girls grew up, Jan began working at the local bank and then, later, at Lancaster Pharmacy. She liked to spend her free time sewing, reading mystery novels, doing needlework, knitting and crocheting blankets. In later years as her eye sight dimmed due to Macular Degeneration, she still loved listening to books on tape and crocheting endless blankets. Jan was a member of the Cedar Summit Book Club and loved listening to the reviewers and visiting with the book club ladies. As she faced the challenge of losing her eyesight, her silent strength was bright.

Jan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim; children Renay Honsicker Muniz & husband Gary; and Stacy Honsicker Peyton & husband Charles. Grandchildren Sarah Totter & husband Allen; Spencer Peyton and Pierce Peyton. Great grandchildren Cassidy, Madison, Brianna, Allyssa, Dakota, Kayla, Ashton, and Leslie; and Rycker Peyton. Great-Great granddaughter: Kadence Crisp

Jan never met a stranger. She loved talking to everyone. Her silent strength and wisdom will be missed by all.
