Obituary for Joseph Wayne Barksdale

Joseph Wayne Barksdale went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2020. He was born on July 14, 1939 to his loving parents, Joseph Collier Barksdale and Johnnie Crow Barksdale. He lived in Midlothian, Texas for the majority of his life and was a proud graduate of the Midlothian High School class of 1958. During high school he played varsity football and was a beloved friend to many. He was also a long-time member of the Midlothian Church of Christ. Joseph was a dedicated and loving son with a caretaker’s heart. He would stop by his parent’s home every night after work to check on his parents and to help around the house and with dinner. Joseph attended college at the University of Texas at Arlington before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the Air Force from December 1959 until April 1968 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. His assignments included Taiwan, Germany and Washington D.C. Joseph is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Johnnie Barksdale, a baby brother, his sister, Barbara Jane Barksdale, and his sister-in-laws, Carol Hollabaugh Barksdale and Jean Bryant Barksdale. Joseph is survived by his brothers, Ray Barksdale and James Barksdale and wife Jan. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Julie Rogers, Jay Barksdale and wife Monique; Cheryl Grable and husband Kirk; Lance Barksdale and wife Sarah. He is also survived by his many great nephews and nieces. The visitation will be at Midlothian Funeral Home on Monday, November 22 from 2-4 p.m. Family will not be in attendance but all are welcome to come by and pay their respects and sign the book. Due to Covid, we ask that all visitors wear masks and practice social distancing.
