In Loving Memory of Joyce Anne (Hoffman) Thompson
Joyce Thompson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on March 11, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, to her parents Billy and Francis Hoffman. She departed this world on October 28, 2023, with her husband of 56 years by her side.
Joyce's life was marked by a deep love for her family and an unwavering commitment to making the world a brighter place. She graduated from Incarnate Word High School, where she developed a passion for music and the arts. After high school, she pursued her education at Southwest Texas State Teachers College, furthering her love for learning and the arts.
On April 22, 1967, Joyce exchanged vows with the love of her life, Richard Thompson, in San Antonio, Texas. Their love story was a testament to the power of enduring commitment, and their bond grew stronger with each passing year. Together, they shared the joys and challenges of life's journey, creating a loving and supportive home for their two daughters, Laura Jane Patulea, born on January 6, 1971, and Linda Kay Rink, born on May 9, 1975.
Joyce was a remarkable woman of many talents. She had a deep passion for music and dance, and her voice filled the hearts of those fortunate enough to hear her sing. Her musical talents extended beyond her voice, as she was a versatile and accomplished musician. Her love for the arts touched the lives of many, and her performances brought joy to countless souls. She also had a talent for interior design and decorating. While her passion and tremendous skills in the kitchen made every meal she prepared, amazing.
For many years, Joyce dedicated her time and energy to the Duncanville Independent School District, where she served as a food service manager. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit made her a beloved figure among the students and faculty. She cherished the opportunity to work with children, and they, in turn, adored her.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Thompson, who stood by her side through the joys and challenges of life. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughter Laura Patulea and her husband Jimmy, along with their three children, Bradley, Corey, and Kaitlin. She is also survived by her daughter Linda Rink, her husband Shane, and her two children, Payton and Landon.
To celebrate the life of Joyce Thompson, a memorial service will be held in Midlothian, Texas, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. Joyce's love, kindness, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
