Obituary for Lenita "Marlene" Bass (Nelson)

Lenita “Marlene” Bass, of Midlothian, Texas passed away April 10, 2022. She was 89 years old. Marlene was born to Mabel and Floyd Nelson in Nocona, Texas on January 30, 1933. During the Korean War, Marlene traveled by train to marry her sweetheart Jim C. Bass who was stationed in San Diego, California. The two were happily married for over 51 years until his death on September 19, 2003.

Marlene was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy was socializing with friends and family. She adored cooking for her family and caring for her numerous plants. We are especially reminded of Marlene during this spring time as the bluebonnets bloom. One of her favorite pastimes was oil painting the Texas bluebonnets. Marlene was an avid traveler and animal lover, but most importantly she was an amazing mother. She often worried too much over her children and loved them fiercely.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Marlene is survived by her sister: Sherrie Sue Hevrin of Arlington, Texas. Children: Larry Bass and his wife Cheryl Bass of McLendon-Chisholm, Texas, Janis Osburn and her husband Randy Osburn of Midlothian, Texas, Ron Bass and his wife Pam Bass of Keller, Texas. Grandchildren: Rebecca Lundberg, Katie Roberts, Chelsea Bass-Sanders, Anna Bass, and Rachel Bass. Great Grandchildren: Maggie Lundberg and Claire Roberts.

Grandmom B was so loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
