Obituary for Marcellus Howell Hedgepeth

Marcellus Howell Hedgepeth was born on April 19th, 1941, to John Hedgepeth and Iva Moorine Ward in Ellis County, Texas. Marcellus, or better known as Howell, grew up with four siblings on a farm in Midlothian, TX on Ward Road. While attending Ellis County Public schools, on his report cards, you can see he was a bright young man. He grew up and graduated from school. In his senior book, his wife of 60 years, was the first to sign his senior book. He did not know she had plans to marry him, but he soon learned. On June 9th, 1961, Howell and Shirley McIntire married. They celebrated 50 years together in 2011, and 60 years together this past year in 2021. A long and full life together. Howell passed on the morning of September 24th, 2021.

Howell loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family. He had many occupations, not limited to being a volunteer police officer, but mostly working as a truck driver, and even teaching truck driving school. Through life, Howell and Shirley made a family with their two children, Tonya Lynn McElheney and Larry Franklin Hedgepeth.

Howell is preceded in death by his father and mother, along with his sisters Olive Lee & Betty.

Howell left behind a loving family including, his two children: Tonya Lynn McElheney & husband Timothy Wade McElheney, and Larry Franklin Hedgepeth. Four Grandchildren: Remington Colt Hedgepeth & Tiffany, Garrett Hedgepeth & Kennedy, Mariah Mae Brock & husband Colton Laird Brock, and Louie Joel McElheney. In addition, seven great grandchildren. As well as, his two brothers, John Hedgepeth and C.E. Hedgepeth and wife Mary, and many nieces and nephews.
