Margie Lynn Bates was born on June 2, 1947 to Onnie Bates and Belva Bates. Though Margie's upbringing was that of humble beginnings, she never let any obstacle get in the way of her dreams. After graduating high school, she married Donald Young and had her three children: Donna Young, Donnie Young, and Angela Young.
She worked tirelessly to support her family and pursue her own interests. Her love for her country was greater than most will ever know, and she spent many years of her life researching this history of our nation and World War II that her father served in. Margie was truly the definition of a Renaissance Woman. From cooking delicious meals to jewelry making, macrame, and learning Chinese in her later years, there were no bounds to Margie's curiosity and knowledge.
She was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was most happy when surrounded by her family. She was accompanied by her daughter when she left this world peacefully on March 29, 2022 at age 74.
She was preceded in death by her father, Onnie Bates, mother, Belva Brim, sister, Tawina Upton, and nephew, Corey Armstrong.
Margie will forever be missed as she joins her family at the gates of Heaven. Gone from us her smiling face, the cheerful pleasant ways, the heart that won so many friends, in bygone, happy days. A life made beautiful by kindly deeds, a helping hand for other's needs. To a beautiful life comes a happy end, she died as she lived: everyone's friend.
