Obituary for Mary Jean Crocker (McCoy)

Mary Jean McCoy Crocker, 83, of Venus, Texas, went to be with our Lord January 23, 2023. She was born on June 12,1939 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Leonard Bonnie McCoy and Caseline Stufflebeme McCoy.

Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sammy D. Crocker, her son Wayne Crocker and wife Carla, son Sammy G. Crocker, her brother Milton McCoy and wife Geneva of Burleson, Texas. In addition, she leaves behind her grandchildren, Brandy Shipley and husband Thomas, Brandon Crocker and wife Patty, Casey Crocker and wife Paige, Dustin Crocker and wife Janna. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren Dylan Shipley, Ethan Shipley, Abbi Shipley, Whitten Crocker, Arlee Crocker and Jaylyn Crocker. She was loved by numerous family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard Bonnie and Caseline McCoy.

Mary graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1956, she worked as a secretary at Chance-Vaught, she worked as, secretary/bookkeeper for Doc Heaton at the Mansfield Sale Barn while living in Mansfield, Texas in late 1960s – early 70s. Then after moving to Venus, Texas, she was a bookkeeper for Lee Martin Garage and the City of Venus. She then went to work for and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 23 years as Plant Assigner. She spent many years competing in rodeos running barrels and pulling ribbons for cowboys that were competing in the ribbon roping as well as assisting with handling the books for various rodeos. Mary was an active member of the Wagon Wheel Cowboy Church of Waxahachie, Texas.
