On Wednesday, December 9,2020, Melvin Spurlock, loving husband, and father, passed away at the age of 81. Melvin was born on July 5, 1939 in Hicksbaugh, Texas to J.W. and Gladys Spurlock. He was a long-time resident of Midlothian, Texas and was a professional welder for over thirty years. He married the love of his life, Carol Jean, and they raised one son, Jeffery Wade, together. Melvin loved to fish, and you would often find him spending his days picking and shelling pecans for the family. He loved to carry on the tradition of baking his mother’s tea cakes and desserts. Melvin was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was very involved in the lives of his son and his family. Melvin was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife, Carol Jean, and his siblings: Kenneth (Buddy) Spurlock, J.D. Spurlock, Dorothy Prewitt, and Gerald Spurlock. He is survived by his son, Jeff, his wife April, and their sons, Michael and Jakob, his brothers Villadean and Elwood Spurlock, and his sister Joyce McKee.
