Obituary for Merry Nicol Rodgers (Walton)
Merry Nicol Rodgers, died December 28, 2021, in her home surrounded by family in Midlothian, Texas. A memorial service will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on January 8, 2021 at Stonegate Church in Midlothian, Texas.
Nicol was born February 26, 1965 to Charles and Sherry Walton in Arlington Texas. She was the second of three children and spent most of her childhood living and attending school in Arlington, Texas. After moving to Midlothian, Texas, to finish high school, she graduated with honors from Midlothian High School in 1983. She remained close with many friends from her high school graduating class for her entire life.
Nicol attended Texas A&M University from 1983 to 1987 and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting. Following her college graduation, she married Joseph L. Rodgers in Midlothian, Texas on July 25, 1987. Nicol would go on to work for General Dynamics until taking on the cherished role of full-time mom at the birth of her first child. Nicol devoted the majority of her adult life to raising her four children full-time.
Her interests included a love of the outdoors, mountain biking, adventure racing, crafting, and practical jokes on her husband. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who followed the Lord with all her heart.
Nicol is survived by her parents, Charles and Sherry Walton; sister, Kelly Cain; brother, Nick Walton and wife Andrea; husband, Joseph Rodgers; four children, Jacob and wife Hali, Noah and wife Mallorie, Claire, and Campbell; one grandchild, Atticus; and many nieces and nephews.
