Michael Alan Bruce, 68 years of age, passed away at home on February 16, 2022.
Mike was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 4, 1953, to the late Willard and Ruby Bruce. After his father’s death he and his brothers were raised by his mother.
Mike graduated from Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana and went to work for Stokely Van Camp as a maintenance mechanic. He transferred to the Dallas, Texas plant in 1980 where he met his wife, Hyla. He spent much of his career as a maintenance mechanic at Ranch Style Beans (Conagra Foods) in Fort Worth, TX.
Mike and Hyla married in 1982 and he devoted his life to raising their 3 children. He adored his 2 granddaughters Jadyn Sprinkle and Parker Perry and enjoyed spending his time with them since his recent retirement in 2020.
Mike loved to camp in National forests, ride his motorcycle and scuba dive. He also tried sky diving which did not turn out to be a passion. He was very handy and could fix almost anything.
Mike is known by all as one of the hardest working men you will ever meet. He was a simple man and, as everyone has said, Mike was a “good man.”
Mike is survived by his wife Hylajean Clanton Bruce, his daughter and son-in-law Tamara and Jason Perry of Arlington, Texas; his son Jonathan Dies of Mansfield, Texas; and his son and son-in-law James Dies and Drew Ponto; brother Gary Bruce of Greenwood, Indiana and sister-in-law Vicky Bruce, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and brother Steve Bruce.
