Obituary for Patricia Schmidt

Patricia Katherine Schmidt went to be with her Lord Jesus on March 21, 2022, she was 78. Patty was the daughter of Allan and Eleanor Fawcett born in Port Huron, MI on May 29, 1943.

Patty graduated from St. Stephens Catholic High School in 1961. She went on to become a telephone operator at Michigan Bell and enjoyed tennis, reading and was very active in the church. Patty married Anthony Peter Schmidt, Jr. in August of 1969. Patty is survived by her only child, Anthony Peter Schmidt, III.

During the 1980’s, Patty volunteered and was very active in the SOLVE Organization in Florida. SOLVE was dedicated to helping unwed mothers navigate the struggles of being poor, pregnant and unwed as an alternative to abortion. Patty’s contributions lead to the saving of countless of young lives over many years. After her time as a volunteer with SOLVE, Patty worked in the criminal justice system helping wayward youth on the wrong side of the law in Ft. Myers, find their way.

Patty’s love of the church lead her to earn her Masters in Theology from Notre Dame University. After earning her degree, she became Director of Religious Education at St. Francis Xavier Elementary school in Ft. Myers. Patty retired from this position in 2004 and moved to Arlington, Texas with her father to be close to her grandchildren.

From 2004, Patty cared for her father, Al until his passing in 2010. From that time, Patty remained close to her family and close to God until God called her home March 21, 2022.

Patty is survived by her son, Tony Schmidt, daughter in law Marta Rocco Schmidt, grandchildren Anthony Peter Schmidt IV, Giana Rocco Schmidt, brother Richard Fawcett, sister in law Sharon Fawcett and their children Yvonne Denslow and Marcus Fawcett.
