In January of 1969, they added a daughter, Sherry Lynne, to their family. In May of 1973 they added a son, Harvey Matthew. They moved to land outside of Midlothian and built the house they would live in for over 30 years. Rheta moved forward with her life as a widow at just 56. She joined a gym and became a staff member of Curves for several years. She also began a career working at the Midlothian church of Christ’s Sunshine Preschool Mother’s Day Out program as a bible teacher and aide to the school. She served in that role for 18 years and was heartsick when she was not able to return to her precious students this year. She was a devoted grandmother and made a point of being present at every school and sporting event she could. She loved the Christmas holiday and decorated every inch of her home. She loved buying presents and seeing them opened on Christmas morning. She was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys although she sometimes muted the games so as not to listen to commentators if they did not express the same devotion to her team. In May 2020, she was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer and endured chemotherapy for months. Throughout she held close to her faith that God would lead her through this trial. She passed peacefully from this world to the next on December 10, 2020. She is preceded in death by her son Brian, her husband Allen, her parents and two of her brothers, Fritz and Paul Von Hagel.
