Obituary for Richard Arthur Joseph

Richard Arthur Joseph, a loving father, dedicated husband, and a pillar of strength, passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 81 years old.

Born on July 27, 1941, in Bridgeport, CT, to Mildred and John Joseph, Richard grew up in Yonkers, NY, and was shaped by a lifetime of experiences that molded him into the remarkable person he was. He was a devoted son to his late parents and a caring brother to his sister Carol. He was preceded in death by his brother John Joseph.

Richard's greatest joy in life was his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nadine, who was the love of his life. Together, they shared a profound bond that served as a shining example of enduring love and commitment. Richard leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Jason (his wife Amy), Linda (her husband Larry), Jay, Mike (his wife Lisa), and Rick (his wife Darcy). His unwavering love and support knew no bounds, and he was a constant source of guidance and encouragement for his children.

Richard's pride and joy extended to his grandchildren: Amberly, Zoey, Kason, Robert, Dana, Stephanie, Michele, Jay, Kandace, Michael, Mark, Jennifer, Matt, and Jessica. Each one held a special place in his heart, and he reveled in their accomplishments and milestones. Richard's love and wisdom will continue to resonate through the generations, as he was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren.

Richard will be remembered for his immense generosity, infectious spirit, and larger-than-life personality. He possessed an unwavering dedication to helping others and never hesitated to extend a helping hand. His commanding presence and resonant voice could captivate any room, and he had a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Richard was a friend to many and a stranger to no one.

Throughout his life, Richard touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His selflessness and willingness to put others’ needs before his own made him the rock of his family and a beacon of strength during difficult times. Richard’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

To celebrate Richard’s life, visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21st from 6pm-8pm at Midlothian Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11am Monday, May 22nd at Midlothian Cemetery.
