Obituary for Robert Burton Grigsby

Robert Grigsby, born on December 22, 1949, at home in Borger, Texas, departed this world on November 7, 2023. He spent his childhood in west Texas, Loveland, New Mexico, and Maude, Oklahoma.

He was the son of Robert Dean Grigsby, an oil field worker, merchant marine, and CNC operator, and Barbara Ann Horton, a housewife and Candy Striper. Robert was the sibling of Sherry (Loftin) Fies married to Barry of Okala, FL, Larry Loftin married to Rose of Lubbock, Cindy (Loftin) Whitten married to John of McKinney, TX, Kenneth Keenan married to Charee of Port St. Lucy, FL, Roger Keith Keenan deceased 2013 and Scott Grigsby of Burleson, TX.

Robert's teen years were spent in Monahans, TX. He loved football, baseball and track. Outside of school, he tried bull riding and joined Golden Gloves. Robert’s mother said he probably gave every girl in school a corsage. He graduated high school in Monahans. After high school, Robert attended West Texas Tech in Canyon, TX, focusing on history and political science.

Robert married Linda Kay in 1969. They divorced 1991. Robert met Sandra Lynn Phillips where they both worked in Pasadena, CA. They married November 23, 1996, and the couple moved to Midlothian, TX, in 1998.

Robert was a positive-minded and outgoing person who loved to tease his friends. He was a loyal friend and always looked for opportunities to help others however he could. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Arlington and later Prestonwood in Plano.

Professionally, Robert was a data and systems manager. In retirement, he pursued his passion for cooking, golf, and bowling. He even spent a season touring as a professional bowler and coached bowling at DBU.

One of the highlights of his life was a trip to Rome with his pastor and fellow church members. He loved to cook for his friends and loved ones.

Robert Grigsby is survived by his wife, Sandra, his brothers and sisters, nieces Melissa (Whitten) Beard , Allison (Whitten) Blair, Connie (Loftin) Walther, Bonnie (Loftin) Hixson, Jennie (Keenan) Baoda, Carie (Keenan) Price, Connie Lerma, nephews (Larry) Michael Loftin and Andrew Lerma, his Aunt Joann (Grigsby) Prater, cousins Linda, Marianne, Mark, Sierra, Drew, Donna, Emily, and Brooke, sister-in law Kendra Phillips, brother-in-law Marvin Phillips and mother-in-law Pauline Phillips.

His positive attitude, love for life, and generosity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held at Midlothian Funeral Home on November 11, 2023 at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Midlothian Cemetery.
