Obituary for Robert Eugene Kennamer

Robert (Bob) Eugene Kennamer born February 1, 1935, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022 with his family at his bedside. Bob was born in Dallas, TX to Kenneth Kennamer and Chleo Kennamer. He graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in 1953. During his tenure at Adamson he was a member of the Adamson baseball team where he was All City in 1952 and 1953. In 1954 he signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and played with the Phillies Minor League Clubs. Bob also attended East Texas State Teachers College and University of Texas at Arlington.

On March 2, 1956 he married Sandra Sue Sterling. They just recently had their 66th year anniversary. Earlier in their marriage Bob served in the United States Army.

Bob and Sandra were both members of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, Texas. He loved greeting everyone at the doors and especially the children where he handed out candy. He also volunteered doing whatever was needed.

Bob retired from Dallas County after being a court reporter for 20 years. He was also a reserve officer for the Dallas Police Department from 1985 to 2009. He so much enjoyed his time with the police department and all the friendships he built during this time.

Bob also enjoyed riding motorcycles. He and his wife rode all across the country together, seeing nearly all 50 states. He was a member of the law enforcement motorcycle group the Blue Knights Texas. His other enjoyment was playing many rounds of golf with all his buddies.

He was a proud father to his two daughters, Kenda Sue Zimmermann and Manda Kay Prachyl and a fun and loving "Paw-Paw" to Robert William Prachyl and Ryan Andrew Zimmermann.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kennamer, daughters, Kenda Zimmermann and her husband Bill, and Manda Prachyl; grandsons, Robert Prachyl and wife Janie, Ryan Zimmermann and wife Nely; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Eugene Kennamer, Jr., and his parents Kenneth and Chleo Kennamer.

Visitation will be held at Midlothian Funeral Home, 200 E. Avenue E, Midlothian, Texas from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022. Graveside service will be held at DFW Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211, on March 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
