Obituary for Sally Theresa Massey (McCarty)

Sally Theresa McCarty Massey was born to Harry McCarty and Margie Lewis McCarty on January 2, 1950 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and made it to her forever home on Friday, October 20, 2023 surrounded by her husband and children.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Margie McCarty, brother George McCarty, maternal and paternal grandparents, granddaughter Jaclyn Jade, and father-in-law Howard Adams.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, Larry Massey, and their three children Kristi, and husband Robert, Powell of Waxahachie, Texas, Amanda, and husband Phillip, Simoneaux of Midlothian, Texas, and Jeremy, and wife Miranda, Massey of Tyler, Texas. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Jacob Massey, Luke, Levi, and Abigail Simoneaux, and Whitleigh, Reid, Weston, Lauren, Elizabeth, and Kathryn Powell, as well as, mother-in-law, Frances Adams, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sally’s gift in life was being the ultimate caretaker, whether that be as mom, Grammy and Mimmie, wife, daughter-in-law, or as a nurse in the local hospital. She always had a tender spot for children, but none more than her own children and grandchildren, whom she loved and spoiled greatly. Her advice and “fussing” at Larry will be greatly missed. Sally spent 48 years as a nurse and she loved every minute of it; in fact, she would have kept nursing if it hadn’t been for that wicked new computer system. She loved taking care of others and giving medical advice or passing on her love of nursing to the next generation nurses. Sally enjoyed all things Christmas, Dallas Cowboys, and sweet treats.

She was a great wife, mom, grandma, and nurse. She will forever be missed.
