Obituary for Sandra Ruth Beesley

Sandra Ruth (McMillan) Beesley was born at Old Parkland in Dallas, TX on October 31, 1939. She passed away on November 15, 2020 after a brief illness. Sandra was adopted by loving parents, Everett and Inez McMillan who ultimately raised the most wonderful daughter, wife, mother, and friend. Sandra spent her early childhood living in Lisbon (now Dallas), TX before her family moved to Dallas County (now DeSoto) in 1951. Sandra attended the (only) DeSoto School before starting high school in Lancaster in 1953. She was a member of the Tiger Band and was an All-State musician playing the bass clarinet. Before Sandra entered high school, her mother loaned one of her older clarinets to a friend who needed it for her son, Charles. Sandra and Charles later met in high school and it was discovered that he had her old clarinet. That old clarinet brought the two together through their four years of high school and beyond. Sandra and Charles were married in December of 1958 at the First Methodist church in Lancaster. They went on to raise three kids who loved her dearly, Don, Janet, and Jody. After raising her kids, Sandra began working outside of the home in the 70’s. She worked for many years at State Farm insurance in Oak Cliff, before starting a new job in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Sandra then left the medical school and began working where Charles worked, at Vought Aircraft. Sandra worked in the HR department at Vought until her retirement in 2001. Upon retirement, Sandra’s life began revolving around the Texas Rangers’ home game schedule, season tickets, and attending her next game with her dear friend and fellow baseball fanatic, Kelly. Sandra was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in DeSoto before transferring her membership to First United Methodist Church in Midlothian when she and Charles moved to the town in 2008. Sandra was proceeded in death by her mother, Inez, and her “daddy,” Everett McMillan. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles, her son Don and his wife Cheryl Beesley, her daughter Janet Beesley, her son Jody and his wife, Tobi Beesley, her granddaughter, Lindsey and her husband, Andrew Nichols, her granddaughter, Neila Owen, her great-granddaughter, Emily Nichols, and many friends that were drawn to her due to her joy and love of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food for Kids outreach for local children at First United Methodist Church Midlothian. https://www.fumcmidlo.org/food4kids/ Visitation will be at Midlothian Funeral Home on Sunday, November 22 at 1:00 PM - 4:00PM, family will not be in attendance but all are welcome to come by and pay their respects.
