Obituary for Shawn Howard Patterson

Shawn Howard Patterson passed away peacefully April 20, 2022 in Midlothian, Texas. Shawn was born in Tucson, Arizona to Jack and Ethel Patterson. His family moved to Texas in 1960.

Shawn graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute in 1991. He also studied Business Administration at Northwood University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree of Metaphysical Science at the University of Metaphysics in 2012. Shawn received a certificate for Lindsey Cooper Refrigeration School in 2013, and also received an A+ Service Certification Technician Program certificate in 1994. Professional Awards: The BancTec Chairman’s Club Award in 1998 and Sprint Excellence Award in 2000.

Shawn was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 29 years. He earned an Entered Apprentice degree, and Fellow Craft Degree in 1992 and Master’s Degree in 1993 at the Arlington Lodge. He was affiliated with the Stanfield Lodge in 1996 and demitted from the Arlington Lodge in 1996. He transferred from Stanfield Lodge to Midlothian Lodge in 2021. He received his 25 year service award in 2021. He was also a member of the Fort Worth Scottish Rite and Tancred Commandry.

Shawn had many passions such as fishing, golfing, gold panning, reading and was an avid gun enthusiast who loved to go the gun range or go to his Venus property to shoot. He liked to listen to conservative commentators. He also liked watching college football games, the Cowboys and Rangers games and boating and gold shows. He liked having a cold one with his buddies and maintaining his yard and making sure all the neighbor’s yards were just as nice. He had his FFC license and was able to talk to people across town and around the world. He renovated rental properties with his wife Liz. Shawn and Liz run an AB&B in Midlothian. Shawn and Liz liked vacationing and traveling with their camper. They especially liked to travel to Colorado where Shawn could pan for gold in Colorado’s many beautiful rivers and streams. Shawn had a very kind and compassionate spirit. He always loved helping others, and he never met a stranger. Shawn cared deeply for his family and friends. He was a very charismatic individual. He had a great sense of humor and could make anybody laugh. There was never a dull moment when Shawn was around. To know Shawn was to love him.

Shawn is preceded in death by his father Jack Patterson and his sister Susie Jill Landrum. Shawn is survived by his wife Liz Patterson of 34 years. Step sons; Monte James Scott, wife Rachael of Granbury, Texas, Richard Anthony Scott, wife Angela of Fort Worth, Texas. Grandchildren; Charlie, Natalie, Ryan, Sadie and Caleb Scott. Mother; Ethel Grace Patterson of Cedar Hill, Texas. Siblings; Colleen Pyles, Jackie Blankenship and husband Maurice. Uncles; Robert Patterson, and Richard Patterson and many more extended nieces and nephews and beloved friends.

Shawn was so loved by his wife Liz, family and friends and will be greatly missed. We will always carry your memory in our hearts and you will never be forgotten.
