Obituary for Vera Mildred Gossett (Adair)

Vera Mildred Adair Gossett was born on September 30, 1935 to Gertrude Mae Logan and Chat Adair. She grew up in Grand Prairie, TX with her mother. Her father called her his stinker pot and through the years it was shortened to just “Tink.” She met her husband, Charles Edward Gossett on a blind date and they were married several months later. They weren’t able to have children right away, but after a few years, they finally welcomed their first child, Jim on August 28, 1958. They also had 2 daughters and 1 more son, Roxsanne, was born on November 14, 1961, Mark who was born on October 10, 1962, and Shelley was born on October 25, 1966.

Vera spent her younger years as a hairdresser, Collins Radio, TI, and eventually retired from General Dynamics which became Lockheed Martin. Some of her hobbies throughout her life were reading, whittling, coloring, crafts, scrapbooking, and gardening. If her children or grandchildren needed help with projects, she was always ready to create. She enjoyed listening to and collecting all things Elvis and Willie Nelson. But, her greatest love was her husband, Charles. They were married for over 50 years and taught their children and grandchildren what love is. They were members of the Church of Christ and enjoyed worshiping with others.

Vera loved her family and made sure that they knew they were her priority. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and many other family members and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of her children, Jim, Roxsanne, Mark, and Shelley. Her grandchildren, Courtney, Michelle, Jon, Jeff Jr., Bryan, Tyler, and Kevin. And her great grandchildren, Devin, Jude, Delilah, Abigail, James, Willow, and Cayson. She will be greatly missed, but we hold onto the promise to see her again one day safe in the arms of Jesus.
