On record, her full name was Vivian Louise Beaver Smith. In our hearts, she was so much more. To most of her friends, she was known as Louise or Ms. Louise. To some, she was known as Aunt Louise. To her loving husband, Carl, she was known as “Lou” or “Babe,” the love of his life. In a world where so many struggle to even understand what love is, Carl and Louise walked hand in hand for over 65 years. What a blessing to the rest of us who had the privilege of witnessing their tender love first hand…even towards the end when leaning over to give each other a simple kiss became a challenge. As her son-in-law, I, as well as the rest of the family, will always, lovingly, remember her as Grammy; the one who touched our hearts in such a way that years from now when we mention her name, we will do so with a smile, as we remember the way she blessed us and made us smile. We all understood that nothing this world had to offer meant more to her than her family, and she loved her family well! On Friday, July 28th, 2023, at the age of 89, the Lord called her home and gave her a new body; one that will never breakdown. Grammy was preceded in death by generations of family members who had also placed their faith in Jesus…what a reunion she must be having.
Regarding those of us who still have work to do before the Lord calls us home; Grammy is survived by her loving husband, Carl Smith of Denton, Texas; Her daughter and son-in-law, Stacy & Zach Stateson of Denton, Texas; Her three grandchildren: Aaron Stateson, his wife Daryn, and their two boys, Teddy & McCoy; Ashleigh Stateson; & Micah Stateson, his wife Rachel and their two children, Caleb and Ellie. She is also survived by several cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Midlothian Funeral Home on Friday, August 11th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The memorial service followed by a graveside service, will be Saturday, August 12th, at 9:00am at Good Samaritan Village Chapel in Denton, Texas (2500 Hinkle Drive).
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of sending flowers, please consider giving to your favorite charity or helping someone in need…Grammy would love that! We would like to thank all of you for being such a dear part of Louise’s life.
