We are mourning the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Weldon Edward Grant, Jr. “Sonny”, 79, went to meet the Lord on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021 at his home in Midlothian, Texas. Sonny was born January 12th, 1941 to Weldon Edward Grant, Sr. and Eunice B. Hollingsworth in Clifton, Texas. He was one of four siblings. Sonny served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1963. His career of 50 plus years was built around being a food service salesman. Sonny could sell anything. His charming and people-person personality gave him the ability to soar. He met his loving wife of 39 years in 1980, Dawn Moore, while out twirling around on the dance floor. Their love of golf kept them bonded for decades. After retirement, they traveled the United States for several years attempting to play at golf courses in all 50 states. He was loved dearly and will be missed by all, family, friends, and golf buddies. He is survived by his wife, Sonoma Dawn Moore Grant. He is also survived by his brother Harlin Grant, sisters LaVonda Osen and Darlene Wilson. Children from a previous marriage, son, Jeff Grant and wife Holly, daughters Emily Swain and husband Sean, Amy Seagraves and husband Jack, stepdaughter Renee Cole and husband Randy, stepson, Terry Gish and wife Michelle. Grandchildren Samantha aka Toad, Corey, Shannan, Alyssa, Addison, 7 great-grandchildren (preceded in death by 1 great-grandchild), nieces, nephews and fur baby Abby. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may be made to the Cowboy Church of Ellis County, or any charitable organization of their preference.
