Obituary for B.G.Vanlaningham

“B.G.” William G. Vanlaningham age 79 of Midlothian, Texas was called home to be with his Lord and Savior April 16,2023. After a lifetime of lending a hand to family and friends.

B.G. was born to Carl and Marie Vanlaningham in Ely, Nevada February 8, 1944. He graduated Grand Canyon High School in Grand Canyon AZ in 1962. It was in high school that he net the love of his life, Wanda Watson. B.G. and Wanda married September 12, 1963 and began their 59 year marriage. Together they raised their son and daughter, Michael and Bette.

B. G. worked in maintenance in the Orphan mine at Grand Canyon,1962-1967, then began working for National Park Service in Grand Canyon National Park, AZ and Chiricahua National Monument, AZ, 1967-1977. In August of 1967 B.G., Wanda, Michael and Bette moved to the suburbs of Grand Prairie, TX where B.G. worked for Southern Volks as shop manager building V.W. engines, transmissions and various parts. In 1991 B.G. began working for Box- Crow Cement (currently Martin-Marietta) in Midlothian, TX. Here he worked for 29 years until he retired in 2019.

Along with being a devoted husband, father and grandfather, B.G. took great joy in helping friends, neighbors and orphaned animals. Whether home improvement, broken down car or a broken wing, B.G was there to care for, listen to and lend a hand.

B.G. is survived by his wife Wanda, son Michael and wife Shelly Vanlaningham, daughter Bette and husband Greg Allen, grandchildren Cambrey and husband Justin Jennings, Brooke and husband Ian Bouldin, Austin and wife Jackie Davis, Cora Allen, Katrina Allen, Maxwell Allen and Jackson Allen. Great grandchildren Logan Taylor, Lexi Jennings, Lincoln Jennings, Cameron Gamboa, Charlie Bouldin, Henry Bouldin, Spencer Bouldin, Paul Davis, Faith Davis, Sarah Davis.

A celebration of B.G.’s life will be held on April 28th at 11:00 am at Midlothian Bible Church 4250 FM 663, Midlothian Texas 76065. Please come and join his family to remember B.G.
