Obituary for Zachary Alan Orand

In Loving Memory
Zachary Alan Orand
Sunrise: October 14, 1987 / Sunset: January 15, 2022

Zachary Alan Orand was born on October, 14, 1987, to Ronny and Debbie Orand, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the firstborn and only son born. Zach was a lifelong resident of Texas. He began his walk with Christ in 2008 and was baptized into the faith by Rev. Ed Talley at Southcliff Baptist Church, who will also officiate the service to commemorate his passing into the arms of his Abba Father.

Zachary died on January 15, 2022, from injuries sustained in a single-car accident in the rural Texas Panhandle.

He is survived by his mother and her fiancé, Debbie Orand and Tom Bivens, Midlothian, TX; his father, Ronny Orand, Tulsa, OK; sister Kayla Taylor and husband, Josh, nieces, Noa, Keziah and Eliana, and nephew, Kieran, Coweta OK.; Aunt Sondra Carr and husband David, Chico, TX.; cousins Tonie Whitmer and husband Dave and Torie Williams and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins and friends. The Mitchell family, T, Malorie, Ralston, and Tayna Carter loved him like a second family. Zach was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Neil and Mildred Jacks, paternal grandparents, Eddie and Francine Orand, and uncles, Mike Orand and Paul Jacks.

Zach was a talented artist in many ways, in photo realism pencil art, tattoo art, computer graphics, and guitar. He was self-taught in many of these disciplines. He sold some art, apprenticed with a Christian tattoo artist, assisted in non-profit fundraising events, and loved to pick and strum on his guitar. One Christmas he made up a song about his mom looking for her fluted cake pan.

Zach definitely had a silly side and a way with words and voices. He had comedic timing and could turn over your tickle box in a way that would keep everyone laughing for hours. All his jokes were “keepers”. He gave his mom the nickname Debbie MacDebberson from Debville. His aunt Sondra remembered a time the can of peanuts dumped into the floorboard and when asked what happened…she could only say “Nuts”…to which he replied, “Oh Nuts!” Endless inside jokes, like “First you get your pedi, then you get your medi, then we all go out to fuddy-duddies.” For a joke, he liked to call his sister by the name Cecil. Anytime a storm came up, he would call and say, “Cecil…those storms…..they’re a brewing.” When he thought something was nice, he would put on a strong southern drawl and say, “Well…that’s nice. That’s just REAL nice.”

When he was 3-year-old child, church ladies pulled his mom aside and told her how he would be the only kid in the room who would go and comfort the one who was crying and upset. They fondly predicted one day he would be a preacher because he showed such compassion. As a man, Zach continued to show compassion to others, from close friends to total strangers.

He had known rejection, hardship, and great loss, and so always wanted to treat others as he wanted to be treated. Like all of us, he faced challenges and difficulties and faced them head-on. He fought hard to forge ahead sometimes against all odds. He was a fighter and he stayed in the race and was making a future for himself.

Zach always had a strong work ethic from the start. His best friend, T recalled a time when they were in their early teens working with his uncle Paul. They woke up each day at 4:30 AM and out the door by 5:00 AM to move furniture. Paul paid them a man’s wage for doing a man’s work. He learned lessons that summer that served him well. Currently, he was working for CIS Concrete, Inc. where he found more than a job, he found a family. They recognized Zach’s attitude of total positivity. He was a hard worker who took pride in whatever he was doing. He was always one to smile and be happy no matter what the circumstance was. He was a joy to be around as he made everyone he spoke to feel important. He was loved by many. The men of CIS Concrete will stand for him as Pallbearers and friends to carry him to his final resting place. The burial place will be in the Midlothian Cemetery and honoring him as Pallbearers will be Filipe Gonzalez, Justin Day, Octavio Lopez, Noah Driggers, Ryan Grissett, and Marcus Reed.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, January 25 at the Midlothian Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Southcliff Baptist Church followed by burial at Midlothian Cemetery. The service will be streamed on Facebook Live. www.facebook.com/debbie.orand
